New to foundation paper piecing? This block is a great first FPP project, and the assembly guide shows you the sewing order.
You’ll need
- Printer paper or foundation paper
- Fabric scraps (plan them on the coloring page)
- Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
- Glue stick or pins
- Add-A-Quarter ruler (optional, but handy)
Printing tip: print at 100% (actual size)
Scaling changes the size of your finished block, so check before you cut.
- Print at 100%. Choose “Actual size” or 100% scale and turn off “Fit to page”.
- Measure the test square. Check the 1″ square with a ruler before you start cutting.
- Use light paper. Thin printer paper or foundation paper tears away cleanly.
- Shorten your stitch. A 1.5–1.8 mm stitch perforates the paper so it’s easy to remove.
